31 Extrusion International 1/2019 Latest Highlights at PLASTEC WEST Moretto USA, daughter company of Moretto S.p.A., the lead- ing Italianprovider ofMaterial Handling, Drying, Blending, Heat Transfer and Size Reduction equipment, attended PLASTEC WEST in Anaheim, California, North America’s biggest annual plastics trade show. Providing innovative standard as well as customized systems, Moretto’s goal has always been to maximize process efficiency, guarantee final quality and energy savings for their worldwide injectionmolding, extrusion and PET processing customers. Moretto USA, celebrating multiple years of both commercial success in the US and their recent relocation to a new, centrally located facility inWestern Pennsylvania, displayed the complete Moretto product range at Plastec West. With explosive sales activity in the last year, Moretto’s USA sub- sidiary is recording the fastest growth of any auxiliary supplier in North America. The USA office, established in 2015, has ef- ficiently provided products and systems to leading companies in the PET, medical and automotive sectors. To maintain customer support and extend the sale of Moretto products, the US op- eration recently expanded to a bigger (30,000 Sq. Ft) facility in Western Pennsylvania, a strategic location to efficiently serve plastics processors. Included, are sales, an extensive inventory of products and spare parts, an assembly shop, and a Moretto product showroom, designed for customer examination and training. Free Trainings Seminars at CompoundingWorld Expo 8-9 May 2019, Cleveland, Ohio, USA Visitors to the Compounding World Expo will be able to at- tend a series of six free training seminars on a range of plas- tics compounding topics. The practical seminars will take place over both days of the exhibition. The topics being cov- ered in the training seminars include process optimisation, compound formulation, regulatory compliance, polymer stabilisation, machine specification, and colour measure- ment and control. “The practical seminars will be delivered by acknowledged experts and experienced trainers,” ex- plained Andy Beevers, events director at AMI, the organiser of the exhibition. “We want to provide visitors with valu- able educational content, in addition to the opportunity to meet more than 140 suppliers who will be exhibiting at the Compounding World Expo.” The opening training seminar will cover the specification of twin-screw extruders for com- pounding. It will be given by Adam Dreiblatt, the director of process technology at CPM Extrusion Group. The second training seminar will focus on regulatory compliance. Bernie Henn, supplier development manager at Verisk 3E will speak about modernising product stewardship for compounded, extruded or recycled plastics. The next free training seminar will focus on understanding and formulating plastics com- pounds and will be delivered by Chris DeArmitt, president of Phantom Plastics. The first free training seminar on the sec- ond day of the Compounding World Expo will focus on top tips for optimising twin-screw extrusion and it will be given by Bert Elliott, engineering manager at Leistritz Extrusion. The vitally important topic of evaluating and controlling co- lour in plastics will be covered in a seminar by Frank Koger, technical sales engineer at Konica Minolta Sensing Americas. The final training seminar will be on understanding the ba- sics of polymer degradation and stabilisation. It will be de- livered by Ronald Becker, business development manager at SI Group who speaks regularly on this fundamentally impor- tant topic for compounders.
