Thanks to the variable airflow, it automatically adapts to production needs ensuring the correct supply of technolo- gical air to the material to be treated, pre- serving the polymer from thermal stress and viscosity variations. The innovative turbocompressor system combined with the energy recovery system from the re- generation process offers extraordinary energy efficiency. It's a one power system that does not require compressed air or cooling water for its operation. The sys- tem configuration and operator control activities are facilitated thanks to the im- plementation of a touch view control with a simple and intuitive interface. Pro- gramming requires to set only two para- meters: material type and throughput. Once set, the machine is able to manage all the process variables automatically. These and other innovative solutions will be exhibited at Drinktec. for customers. This was achiev- ed by overlapping layers in each semi-deflector, using a single cone. The highly efficient design of the 800 Series Hybrid reduces cost and size, as oppo- sed to other methods of over- lapping layers. Essential benefits of the 800 Series Hybrid include elimina- ting weld lines in materials through patented overlapping technology, producing a more consistent finished product; re- duced sensitivity to changes in viscosity; reduced sensitivity to changes in line speed; myriad material and multi-layer application pos- sibilities; works in all tubing and jacketing applications with a wide range of materi- als; low residence time; compact design and a low tolerance stack-up error factor, all resulting in improved concentricity. The 800 Series Hybrid extrusion tool greatly reduces stagnation, because over- lapping layers are more inherently balan- ced than single layers and also because each semi-deflector is “tuned to flush.” Conventional deflectors must simultane- ➠ Guill Tool & Engineering www.guill.com Guill announced the introduction of a new version of its popular 800 series, known as 800 Series Hybrid. In some ex- trusion applications that utilize cross- heads and inlines, layers of the exact same material are applied multiple times, using a single die. This method is used to reduce the propensity for errors caused by gels breaking through a thin wall, weld lines, inconsistent wall thickness, plus ma- terial and process variations. Additional errors include difficult-to-process materi- als and demanding applications where there is zero fault tolerance. Seeking to design the next generation multi-layer die to overcome these chal- lenges, the engineers at Guill looked for a way to incorporate this technology into an updated version of the 800 Series. This led to the creation of the 800 Series Hy- brid. The inherent benefits of the 800 Se- ries are retained, including compact design, low residence time and a com- mon deflector bore that eliminates toler- ance stack up. The challenge was to create a hybrid design that incorporates the benefits of layer overlapping, while reducing unnecessary complexity and ma- king the technology more cost-affordable New 800 Series Hybrid Extrusion Tooling announced ously achieve a balance between flushing, balancing and eliminating the weld line. There is less difference between the slo- west moving material and the fastest moving material in the deflector chan- nels, thus making the viscosity more con- sistent in the deflector. www.smart-extrusion.com
