Tolsa Reinforces its Commitment to the Cable Industry

Tolsa Reinforces its Commitment to the Cable Industry

Articles

Tolsa, a leading global supplier of high-performance additives, will take part in Wire Düsseldorf 2026, the leading international trade fair for the cable industry, which will be held from 13 to 17 April 2026 in Düsseldorf, Germany. The company will be in Hall 15, Stand 15B12, where it will present its technological solutions for cable applications.

At this year’s event, Tolsa will focus on ADINS® Flame Retardancy, a halogen-free alternative to ATO (antimony trioxide) for flame-retardant formulations. Designed to maintain performance across different polymer matrices, ADINS® Flame Retardancy addresses the industry’s need to move towards formulations with a better safety and sustainability profile, while also improving certain parameters such as smoke generation.

During the event, the company will focus on four key technical areas:
1. Alternative to ATO for cable formulations
ADINS® Flame Retardancy enables progress towards flame retardant systems that replace ATO, helping to reduce dependence on antimony in a market characterized by price and availability volatility. As an alternative manufactured in Europe, ADINS® Flame Retardant also offers a way to strengthen supply stability and shorten delivery times, supporting more predictable purchasing strategies.

2. HFFR Compounds for CPR Compliance
Tolsa will highlight the role of ADINS® Flame Retardancy in the development of HFFR (halogen-free) compounds for cables, designed to meet stringent European fire reaction requirements under the CPR. The solution contributes to reduced smoke emission, reduced heat release, and improved anti-drip properties, while also promoting the formation of a more effective carbon layer.

3. Industrial use cases and validation
Tolsa will share examples of industrial validation and lessons learned from applications in industrial settings, including the case of the RDC Group, which has integrated ADINS® technology into its Veaflame masterbatch, used in CPR-compliant HFFR cable applications.

4. Formulation stability and reliability
The company will demonstrate the ADINS® Flame Retardancy approach to help achieve more stable and reproducible formulations, with a focus on process consistency and the performance of the final compound.

“At Wire, we want to discuss a very practical issue for the sector: how to design flame-retardant formulations that are robust in production and less reliant on critical raw materials,” says Antonio Esteban, Chief Research and Technological Innovation Officer at Tolsa. “ADINS® Flame Retardancy enables us to support manufacturers in this transition with an ATO-free and halogen-free solution, manufactured in Europe and designed to scale reliably.”
