Packaging is one of the greatest concerns of Brazilian fruit companies as their products have to travel a long way before they get to the customers' tables. And they are expected to look fresh and intact. And this is the point where Braskem is ready to help.
Braskem entered into cooperation with the Union of Growers of Brazilian Papaya (UGBP), one of the leading companies in this segment. The two companies set an objective to come up with a proof and attractive packaging and thus they were looking for a film that would match the requirements.
As the result, polyethylene film was chosen as it is able to neutralize most of the factors causing early fruit spoilage. The new packaging prevents any possible contamination and allows for uniform papaya maturation, thus considerably extending shelf life.
Both Braskem and UGBP are pleased with their partnership as the fruit packed in a new way are entering Brazilian and the United States markets.
