Feddem at K 2025: Application-oriented solutions for compounding

News 26.08.2025

Feddem will be presenting two practice-oriented innovations for twin-screw extrusion: the compact lab extruder FED 18 MTS and the FEDDEM Automatic AirBlade (FAA), designed to minimize product residues at the die exit of the extruder.

With the FED 18 MTS, FEDDEM expands its extruder portfolio with an additional size. The lab extruder is specially designed to meet the demands of formulation and product development, enabling precise, reproducible results in a compact space.

The modular design allows flexible adjustment of the process length from 32 L/D up to 52 L/D—without modifications to the frame, cooling system, or control unit.

All supply lines are plug-in, and dosing units are integrated space-saving directly into the extruder without additional frames. According to the company, they can be easily moved to a side position for maintenance and cleaning. This allows the extruder to be quickly converted and used flexibly. In addition to its robust construction, optional add-ons such as the FSB side feeder or FSV side vacuum degassing provide practical scale-up options.

FEDDEM is also exhibiting the Automatic AirBlade (FAA). This system was developed to remove material residues at the die exit with a targeted hot air stream, thereby reducing beard formation.

An integrated deflection mechanism retracts the slot die from the working area at the touch of a button if a strand break occurs. This improves process reliability and facilitates uninterrupted operation.

„Both solutions are the result of our continuous development of practical systems for efficient and stable production,“ comments David Constroffer, Head of Development and Construction at FEDDEM.
