line drum, replacing the empty “refill”

drum with a full one while color meter-

ing continues uninterrupted.

The RGInfinity™ auto-refill system is an

extension of Riverdale Global’s Sealed

Color™ technology, which eliminates

the complications of handling liquid co-

lor, such as spillage, leakage, cleanup,

pump maintenance, unused color, envi-

ronmental concerns, and disposal costs.

Central to the technology is the proprie-

tary “Pump in a Drum” design, which

enables the drum to remain sealed dur-

ing delivery from Riverdale Global, me-

tering into the process, and replenish-

ment through return of the drum to

during the molding or extrusion process,

eliminating downtime for switching

drums and reducing the occurrence of

transitional or off-specification product

with little or no color.

Riverdale Global supplies liquid color in

patented pump-equipped drums that re-

main sealed while color is metered to

processing machines. The RGInfinity™

auto-refill system eliminates need to re-

place these drums when empty by refill-

ing them from a large central container,

or “tote.” One central container can

serve one machine or, if desired, be con-

figured to refill multiple machines runn-

ing the same color. Sealed connections

throughout the system, from tote to de-

livery tubes to drums to metering tubes,

keep liquid color completely sealed off

from the workplace. Each drum is moun-

ted on a Riverdale Gravimetric Stand

(RGS), which monitors the weight of co-

lor in the drum and signals a pump valve

on the tote when the drum is nearly

empty and again when it is full. This pre-

vents uncolored product.

When the central container needs to be

replaced with a full one, the sealed con-

nectors make possible a quick change-

over. Riverdale Global can provide con-

tainers in various shapes and sizes. A ty-

pical example is a 200-gallon rotomol-

metric Stand, used as part of automating

the RGInfinity™ auto-refill system, a li-

quid color drum is mounted on a self-ca-

nually reports the weight of the contents

to the RGS controller as a means of en-

suring that the target let-down ratio is

maintained. Flow is modulated through

an air-regulated actuator that is connec-

ted to the pump inside the sealed drum.

The gravimetric control holds color-deli-
